The multimedia interactive work “Cantos a Oshun: In the Longing for the Erotic” (2021) of Sall Lam Toro, proposes a ritualistic activation of the svadhisthana or sacral chakra energy source in the bodies of the audience through a choreographic collage of sound and movement. Crystals are the spiritual guiding companions of this journey together with river waters collected previously evoking the deity of the rivers and streams, Oshun. Sounds of ancestral voices conjure a path to awakening the erotic self through chanting, poetry and the dark guttural imaginations of the earth. The piece becomes a mix of ritual, dance, and sound art. Performed at Åben Dans in Roskilde as part of curation by Interconnected Realities.
