OBSIDIAN DREAM LOVE LETTERS SERIES
Drawing upon a love letter to black ecoerotic consciousness built upon universes of phantasmagoria, the space is inhabited by sculptures, light and soil companions. Visual elements of water and moving sound carries us through sequences of recorded footage, animated objects and somatically conducted interviews to approach archival knowledge through interwoven acts of caretaking and caregiving.
The piece materializes manifestos of atemporal and multidimensional fugitivity with the support of sensuous rituals channeled by the presence of obsidian and rose quartz raw living bodies. To move between realms the obsidian and rose quartz work as energetic supporters, enhancing the exchange between mediums, materials and bodies. Obsidian Dream Love Letters: Vol II (2023) becomes a surrealist world enacting spaces in which "separability becomes dissolved"(Da Silva, Denise) in non-linear time, and imagination is called upon as a love gesture guiding us into ecoremembrance.
